I have Beta-Amyloid (1-42)-HFIP as peptide film (ANASPEC cod.64129-1 mg). I would like to know if after the reconstitution in DMSO it could be aliquoted into several vials and then stored at -20°. Do you have any information about the stability of amyloid-beta stored in DMSO?
Hi. I've kept abeta40 and 42 for at least 2 months in DMSO at 4oC and did not see any ill effects. But you should allow the peptides to refold for 24 hours after taking them out of DMSO.

I did some aggregation experiments on my thesis. The issue about DMSO and amyloid peptides are many, but the main one is about changing the aggregation pattern they present. DMSO can oxidise the methionine residuo (you can even detect it by MALDI-TOFF) if you use it for long periods of time and additionally, depending on the concentration of beta(1-42) and the dilution procedure, pH, etc. and it is said that is not capable of completly disolving pre-formed aggregates, so it is not able to "reset" the folding history of the peptide. For this reason, you can have reproducibility problems on aggregation and/or toxicity (additional to the "standard" reproducibility issues associated to amyloid peptides).
When I finished my thesis in 2003, there was no consensus on a protocol for preparing and conserving this tricky peptide (we use TFA followed by HFIP to get monomers and stored the peptide evaporated). Even there was a big difference among batches from the same provider.
I just can wish you good luck... and advice you some "oxidation control" by using a technique such as MALDI or aggreggation control.
