Some chemicals substances are associated with hypersensitivity while others are not with underlying process of antigen -antibody reaction. Which foreign substance will behave as an antigen and what is the specific criteria for a substance to be antigenic ?
The antigen is any substance that is capable of stimulating the production of antibodies and combine specifically with them (elicits an immune response). An antigen is an organic molecule that binds to Ag-specific receptors (mainly peptides and proteins), but cannot necessarily induce an immune response in the body by itself (polysaccharides, lipids and nucleic acids).
And some antigens are not necessarily immunogenics such is the case of the haptens.
My search is about Why it is so ? what are the scientific and molecular justification ?
one chemical behaves as antigen ,other partially and other does not behave like both of them a foreign particle is a foreign why such differences exist. At the same time all human have same defense mechanism but a same agent is antigenic for one person but not for the other.
A molecule needs to be presented to the immune system in the context of HLA. This works either for an antibody or a cellular response.
