Unzipping MWNTs is easy, but the filtration process (conc. H2SO4) using a micron filter is difficult. I have tried this method and successfully prepared graphene. Due to this reason, only very small quantities can be prepared.
reduction of exfoliated graphite oxide yields chemically derived graphene, which is easily processable in large quantities, although the physical properties are worse than that obtained by mechanical exfoliation. It is up to the specific application which way should be preferred.
Microwave exfoliation of graphite oxide and subsequent exfoliation in solvents.. this can yield large quantities of graphene, but it requires lots of efforts in terms of manpower.
