EBSD data for Ti64 alloy with different texture shows that after moderate uniaxial compression, high KAM value for soft grains resulted in high GND in comparison with hard grains. how can i interpret this phenomena?
What are "soft grains"? Can you show the (non-cleaned) KAM and IPF maps?
On theother hand, you are saying: you have high KAM values and high GNDs. This is obviously your correlation you believe in. For what do you need an additional interpretation?
soft alpha grains are oriented in and axis. Therefore, during plastic deformation (uni-axial compression), c-axis of these grains are perpendicular to loading direction so slip system of these grains are easily activated.
but my main question is:
1- curvature of crystal lattice resulted in GND
2-GND analysis can be done by local misorientation
what is the relationship between case 1 and case 2?
Each misorientation is interpreted as number of necessary dislocations related to the step width which generates the visible lattice rotation. There is no "curvature" in or bending of the lattice, only a curvature derived from a misorientation.
