I used pH Titrator to determine the Alkalinity of groundwater samples. 0.016N Sulfuric acid was used as the titrant. While adding the titrant (acid) to the water sample, the pH value is getting to increase than the initial pH value and, it is highly varied during the titration. Sometimes, several titration cycles are needed to run to complete the titration.

Further, the total hardness of groundwater samples is considerably high. Can it be a reason for this pH variation?
