I want to make a reaction between hydroxyl groups of a silica-based filler and hydroxyl-terminated polydimethylsiloxane? I want to know if it is possible in slight acidic condition or not.
You can do it in slight acidic or basic conditions but the velocity of the condensation reactions in the later is maybe higher than the hydrolysis reactions.
I think it's better to use a coupling agent like brom organosilane or chloro organosilane, that it reaction from one side with your silica filler, and also reaction with your rubber from another side .
