I have not published my own work, but my former research group did publish in nature nanotechnology. And from my view I would say that Lab-on-a-chip is often more applied so you would build more how the technology works where as in the nature is was more focused on the finding, so what is the fundamental new item.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I agree with you. But recently in some Nature papers such as Scientific Reports the focus is more on applied science.

To that extent I would agree, the Scientific Reports and some of their review work does cower this. And for some authors you can also find most of the information in the supplementary material.

But when reviewing work I as a rule of thumb divide it up, unless there is a really good story line to go with the method, then I would place it in one of the Nature Journals.
