As we have observed from a practical session that, not all buccal squamous epithelium cells are having Barr body in them. My query is what is the percentage of cells with Barr body could be present in female buccal mucosa, in general?
In general, you could expect to see around 70% cells having distinct barr bodies. Having said that, it is also important to note that some of the XIST mediated inactivation and, as such barr body formation, may be incomplete, which is further complicated by staining accuracy and sensitivity. So if you have 65-70% cells showing barr body with Giemsa, thats a pretty good result.
