What is the best way to assess the permeability of the skin epithelium?

You can use TEER (Transepithelial-electrical resistance) as well as TEWL Transepidermal water loss) methods for this purpose. Usually, TEWL value equivalent to 10-12 g/m2/h or TEER between 1-2 k ohm guaranteed integrity of skin and such skin were recommended for the skin permeability study.
