We are planning to launch a digital image analyzing system for immunohistochemical stains and FISH. We think the image analyzing software that comes with expensive scanning systems are not suitable for our laboratory. What is a commendable system that is easy to use and reproducible, with wide applicability?
I think ImageJ (http://rsbweb.nih.gov/ij/) is the most cost effective solution for microscopic image analysis, but this is a general application not a dedicated for pathological purposes. ImageJ is rather a research tool then a diagnostic application.
There are many applications for digital pathology on the market, but these are a complete systems from scanners to image analysis (dedicated IHC and FISH as well) and are typically not a cost friendly solutions.
