Hello Respected Scientific Researchers! Please help me understand if there is a dealing to the number research articles which needs to at least consulted and referenced in a research publication.
The answer to your question is surprisingly simple: For every article that you quote or paraphrase from, you must give bibliographic details in your list of references.
(Those articles that you read, but found nothing cite-able in sadly do not appear in your list of references, so it is important to concentrate on finding and reading useful articles.)
The more complex part of your question is how many articles must you consult. The answer is that you must not stop until you start seeing that you have exhausted the topic and reached saturation.
Also do not forget to do your own research. That will trigger off more literature searching on methods, resulting in more reading and possible citing.
Dear Antony Baidoo the number of paper you need to read and reference is related to deference variable such as the topic, type of research(ex. survey proposed a new model). Also it is can be various based on the journal, conference, or workshop.

There is no the minimum number of research articles one needs to consult before producing a research article. You should make proper literature review, justify your methods and compare your results with previous research.
0. I have done it. But nobody believes me that I did not have to read much before I could write. So I must now search for citation in retrospect even though I completed my writings before starting to read.
In general, colleagues are right. In addition, the number of articles a person must consult before submitting their article for publication may be reduced if there are strict guidelines of the target journal concerning the inclusion of recently published articles (for example 10 years or less) in its References list.
There is no definite, minimum number to consult before producing a research article. However, your paper should include such references that clarify the status of understanding by researchers about the topic you treated.
Consult good related and current papers in the field of research. The number should be substantial enough to be convinced of the research gap you want to fill with your study.
Well, the thing is that there is no any benchmark for citing minimum or maximum number of articles. Point is whatever you cite, it should be relevant to and support your topic. Do not cite articles just for citations BUT use them as tools which help you to build your arguments. Too much citations does not mean your article becomes valuable. CITE to improve quality of your write up NOT the number of references.
There is no minimum or maximum number of articles to consult which should culminate to a good research output. You can consult more recent, relevant and retrievable references for your study.
Dear, you are not expected to worry about the number but try to worry about the quality of your article. As to me, it is good to review articles as maximum as you can and these will help you much for producing quality article.
There is no exact number. The key is to know what work has been done & what are the Research gaps. It would be disappointing if you started on a subject, and then in the middle of your work realize that somebody else has already worked on it, and that too is well recognized and of a superior order.
What is the minimum number of research articles one needs to consult before producing a research article ?
Think no hard & fast rule. It also vary from topic to other topic. More importantly, we should perform rigorous literature review until we reached the level of saturation i.e. nothing new you'd discovered from reading another journal article. In order to keep track the maximum articles you'd reviewed, you can refer to the following Excel template to help you.
