The deformation response of material depends upon the elastic modulus of its constituents, so with increase in grading parameter,the ceramic volume increases and because as elastic modulus of constituent 1 is less than the other constituent (i.e. constituent 2), the metal dominates the elastic properties of FGM plates. What is the mechanism exist in this?
Firstly, you can control the all properties for FGM (i.e Mechanical and Thermal) as you want.The FGM helps you to design any part depends on its function. For example, for total hip replacement there are to function one is the wear and the other is mismatch between the bone property and the artificial joint. The FGM solved this conflict by using a Ceramic at the articulating surface from one side to reduce the wear and Ti or Stanless steel form the other side to resists the fracture. You can also design the property of artificial joint as the property of the bone in order to increase the performance of the joint.

Dear Neeraj Sharma, you are talking about a FGM contaning ceramic and metal. I would support Serge's request for more Information on the structure of the FGM. I wonder if this is actually a FGM or more a compound material (layered structure). Depending on the design, however, what Hassan Sayed Hedia described is not necessarily what I would consider a FGM but it sounds more like a ceramic/metal design or assembly.
Thanks for everyone suggestion. Here i am using two materials one is metal and another is ceramic. The bottom part is 100% metallic and volumetric changes occurs from bottom to top and the top surface becomes 100% ceramic.

Dear Neeraj Sharma, the situation become more clear. The strain analysis (for example, calculation of stiffness) of your gradient material one can carry out using available analytical or numerical solution (by FEM discretization or layered model). The elastic gradient, really, depends on concentration function for constituents. For the calculation of elastic modulus of material at various distances from the bottom, you may use a simple additive rule for Young modulus of two-phase composite. Then, varying the concentration function, you can study the mechanisms of elastic properties formation.
