An excellent recent review of kidney disease in Dengue fever by Lizarraga and Nayer appeared in Journal of Nephropathology 3(2): 57-62 (2014) but did not elaborate on pathophysiology of proteinuria. Full text at: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3999585/pdf/jnp-3-57.pdf
Thank you , Dr James Bowen for the excellent reference on renal disease due to Dengue . Regarding renal biopsy , it is essential that we are able to prove that it is due to dengue antigen which caused the nephrotic syndrome . This would need adequate facilities to identify the dengue antigen in the kidney . If this is not available , the diagnosis would be only presumptive , as there could be other causes for the renal disease .
Thank u all for the responses. Proteinuria in dengue is not that well investigated. Found an interesting article on proteinuria as an early marker of prediction of progression to DHF
we have to remember that one of the target of dengue virus is the endothelium cells and this mechanism is the key point ,why patients have albuminuria therefore I am agree that these is an a early sign of progression of severe dengue and we take this founds like a predictor factor.
