Draft manuscript entails the preliminary status of the manuscript in which the write up is yet to be put in shape. It may have repetitions of ideas and this needs to be addressed. Each section - abstract, introduction, description of study area, results and discussion and conclusion has its peculiar contents. On no account should section contents be mixed up. Therefore, authors should go through their draft manuscript for such corrections.
It is very different to write a paper in the area of humanities or social sciences and in natural sciences. In humanities we can substitute the repeated word by synonyms or related words. I understand that it is too difficult to change "arsenic" ou "arsenite" by a synonym, but you can try, sometimes in your article, using a co-related idea that may express more or less the concept. Regarding the References, it is impossible to avoid repetition, as the names or the citations are done by the authors. I hope I could help.
