I stumbled upon my unpublished MSc thesis from 20 years ago and i feel that the question I answered has still not been adequately answered. Should I publish this work now? 20 years later!
It depends on the subject, is the publication going to add something new to science or not, if the subject is not outdated then publication is justified.
There are hundreds of scientific research dating back to the sixties and seventies available on the net and many are aware of them and may find their purpose
I agree with Najib Abou Karaki and Senad Becirovic, it really depends on the field of study and the study itself. By default if its old an outdated research, then it is likely to follow that the research findings may be of little use to contemporary society, but relative to the field and study. If it is still relevant and subsequent research has not perhaps addressed the research aim and research questions, then it may add value but rather publish old empirical research results rather focus the paper as a conceptual paper in hope to stimulate thought for researchers to possibly pursue research in, and perhaps empirical research using your conceptual ideas to formulate their own research aims.
