this is probably a novice question but I have been curious about general consensus about the presence of residual stresses in AM parts. While this could be broad due to the range of AM techniques available with different material classes, I want to be aware of what other material scientists are curious about pertaining to this phenomenon.
how non-trivial is understanding this phenomenon?
how can residual stresses be measured?
what is currently known about this in conjunction with 3D printing process parameters?
what are the implications on both static and fatigue strength?
Out of the many critical structural components of automotive and aerospace parts, how does an individual not yet involved in industrial design identify which parts could be made of AM polymers(PLA) (i.e effectively a region in the system subjected to low stress amplitudes in the range ( 40-10 MPa)
