As it is known, we can define extinction cross section for a gold nanoparticle, which is summation of absorption and scattering cross sections.

My question is at which frequency do we expect to see the highest field enhancement? The frequency at which the extinction cross section has its peak value, or peak frequency of absorption or scattering cross section? Which one is the correct answer?

By the way, I simulated a gold nanosphere with Lumerical, and I saw that the wavelength of highest field enhancement is at least 20nm larger than the peak wavelength of the aforementioned cross sections.

Thanks in advance,
