When I start electrodeposition from chitosan dissolved in acetic acid, I get some yellow to dark products mixed with the hydrogel deposited on the WE. The confusing part is that I repeat electrodeposition from the same stock of solution an hour later and I get pure hydrogel without any black deposits. I was wondering if anybody can help me with the reason?

Thank you for your answer. The presence of impurities in the electrochemical bath seems logical. However, let me explain in more details to better consider the problem. I make a solution, take 30 mL of it for electrodeposition which is then disturbed by evolution of unwanted deposits. The rest of the solution is still on the magnetic stirrer. After an hour, I take another 30 mL of the bulk solution for electrodeposition and I get the hydrogel without any trouble.
The same happens for different substrates, I do get the hydrogel on the working electrode. By repeating the electrodeposition with a new solution and the same substrate, I get the pesky deposits. I was wondering do you still think this could be do to impurity in my acetic acid? Then why is it so that after an hour of stirring the bulk solution, I take a part of it and don't see any black deposits?
