What is the exact coating mechanism of cell membrane coatings?

Hi! I'm currently optimizing the coating of polymeric nanoparticle cores with biomimetic cell membranes.

However, I would like to know general opinions on the coating mechanism of nanoparticle cores: Is it adsorbed at the surface? What is the preferable surface charge of the nanoparticle core? What is the exact physicochemical mechanism driving the coating? is the coating continuous? What do you think needs more characterization? What has been your experience so far regarding these nanosystems?
