In general the muffle furnace are used to conduct precipitation heat treatment of Aluminium alloys/composite. The various heat treatment standards such as T6, T4, T7 etc are used. What will happen to these standard conditions when i am suppose to use a microwave for heating the material.
1. Please confirm me whether microwave can be used instead of muffle furnace.
2. What changes in precipitation kinetics will occur in the material and how the properties change.
Thanks Vitalii Pertsevyi, I have this paper and another paper of same author as reference. But in this paper they have not discussed regarding the solutionizing- temperature & time duration, natural ageing, and artificial ageing- temp & time duration. Similar to Standard T6. Also the micro-structural changes are not discussed in detail.

The basic question seems to me whether or not the precipitation kinetics is influenced by microwave heating. Precipitation reactions are thermally activated, so in a first approach the precipitation kinetics are independent on the heating mode. However, as the set-up of microwave heating implies a change in the heat transfer on to the specimens, the overall time/temperature effective for the specimens can imply an advancement of the heat-treatment results, in terms of the level of mechanical properties as well in terms of the times necessary to achieve these improved values. The attached paper (certainly already known to you) conveys some evidence. I guess that a lot of further studies should be performed to elucidate that issue.
