12 December 2015 11 4K Report

I have read similar papers where they have used Tukey's test and in some cases DMRT for one way ANOVA. What is the deciding factor for the type of test to be used for the study? Which is the best among the two? And why?

My study requires to analyze various blood parameters and biochemical tests for 5 groups, each containing 6 rats. I have chosen DMRT as the post hoc test for one way ANOVA. My groups are divided as follows:

Group 1; Control

Group 2: Toxic treated

Group 3: Toxic + treatment compound treated

Group 4: Treatment compound treated

Group 5: Toxic + standard drug treated

I have done animal based screening of my treatment compound. Thus, the sample size in each group is less. I am comparing the conditions/parameters reflected in  Group 2 (Toxic treated) with Group 3 (Toxic + treatment compound treated). The standard drug treatment (Group 5) used, is to compare the efficiency of my treatment compound (Group 3) with that of the standard drug. The safety of the treatment compound is studied by administrating only the treatment compound in Group 4. The Group 4 is compared to the conditions/parameters reflected in control animals.  I have used DMRT for one way ANOVA for my statistical analysis. I would like to know whether my choice of using DMRT, rather than Tukey's test is right or wrong? If wrong, then why is it wrong? Can Tukey's test be used in this study? Which is better, DMRT or Tukey's test as post hoc test for one way ANOVA for my above stated work? Kindly help.

What is the difference between Tukey's test and DMRT in one way ANOVA?

If I have to answer in my PhD viva, what would be the best answer to the above questions? Please help!
