This is a fun question and I am looking for some awesome answers and findings based on real life situations / events, Please try to avoid spamming with dictionary meanings.
Complacency is when you stop working hard thinking you have arrived at a place where you don't need anything else anymore.Satisfaction is when you acknowledge the efforts it took you to achieve your goals and realize that you still have a long way to go. Being satisfied doesn't mean you stop working. It simply means that you are not restless anymore.
Complacency has a negative connotation while satisfaction has a positive one.
For example, let us consider 2 guy. The first one is dull , lethargic and lacks ambition in life thus becoming satisfied with what he has in his life, making him complacent. The second guy is indefatigable, overly ambitious and zealous. He puts in his 100% in every endeavour and hence is satisfied with his work.
For me ...The challenges reflecting the behavioural principles and provides guidance for countering/challenges within bribery, issued international transparency and social accountability . Ask yourself whether any of you're transmitted behaviour would withstand the scrutiny of the public eye if exposed
Sudeep we can speak lot of philosophy on these two words 'Satisfaction' and 'Complacency'. Mushtaq told simply and perfectly.
Satisfaction we can say 'contentment' the exact synonym that says 'happiness with one's situation'. The degree of satisfaction/contentment varies from person to person. The way one feels happiness may not match to other except while we talk in general way/sense. For eg. if we take evaluations most of the people write 'satisfactory' means 'fulfilling expectations or needs acceptable, though not outstanding or perfect'.
Honestly speaking Satisfaction is the quality of humble and modest people. Satisfaction should come from within yourself then only yo satisfy. Some one told that 'our satisfaction never gets satisfied' in most of the issues, this is cent per cent right. Customer satisfaction is another topic we can make research on that.
If come to the word Complacency we can say 'excessive satisfaction with oneself or one's achievements'. This is very bad quality I say over confidence. Self confidence is necessary but over confidence is bad quality. I say better not to have that quality. I am afraid to use the word 'self-satisfaction', one way modest meaning but the other way you feel superior about yourself. We can say Pride/proud means 'especially proud of a particular quality or skill'. This is always a self destruction quality.
A feeling of quiet pleasure or security, often while unaware of some potential danger, defect, or the like; self-satisfaction. We can give eg. Narcotic drug users under this.
What is the difference between Satisfaction and Complacency ?
Satisfaction is contentment that can motivate a person to move forward whereas complacency is contentment embedded with arrogance / pride that stop the person from progressing.
Thank you Dr Han, I am in agreement with your answer, satisfaction is primarily a positive vibe whereas complacency is interpreted to be a negative one.
