I understand that S8R is for thick shells, and S8R5 is for thin as well as their inherent plate theories. However, in the case of an in-plane loading such as a bias-extension of a thin composite plate, both elements seem to provide different solutions. Thick/thin should not be the issue here as it is only in plane stress and strain, and no bending is considered.
