What is the difference between p-n heterojunction (type-I, II, III) and Z-scheme, or S-scheme) ?

For binary composites( CuO-Bi2O3 etc.)

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't Z- and S-scheme junction only the case when there is light involved, e.g. in photocatalysis and photovoltaics?
