I have some information about the matk (maturase kinase) gene, which is involved in Group-II intron splicing. But recently I came across a few papers where they mentioned the usage of the matR gene instead of matK for phylogenetic studies. So, I got confused. What is the difference between the two genes? What is the benefit of matR vs the benefit of matK?
