Hello all,
I need to model a beam which contains geosynthetic material at some depth. To model the interface between two materials, I have used cohesive elements and cohesive surface behaviour. The results obtained from cohesive elements are reliable. But the results from cohesive surface behaviour are highly deviating. I have given the same properties in both the methods. What might be creating issue?? suggestions will be really helpful.

What is the thickness of your cohesive element? and what value of stiffness are you using for your cohesive elements/ surface?
Cohesive surface is a surface. Cohesive element may be a line element.
please check the properties given for surface. the surface properties are different from those of the bulk material.

Cohesive elements.
Thickness= 0.0001m.
Normal stiffness=170MPa, Shear stiffness 1=2=84MPa.
Maximum normal stress normal = 3MPa, Shear 1= Shear 2= 1.32MPa.
evolution is given using energy criterion and power law
Fracture energy normal = 250, Shear 1=Shear 2 = 198.
Cohesive Behaviour interaction property
Normal Behavior: Pressure overclosure: Hard, Constraint enforcement method: Direct,
Cohesive behaviour: Normal and shear stiffness are given same as cohesive elements.
Damage: Damage initiation and evolution is given same as cohesive elements.
Geometry: Out of plane thickness is mentioned..
But the results are not at all matching.. Suggestions would be reallyy helpful..
