Regarding BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes, "potentially deleterious alterations may also reside in the less studied non-coding intronic sequences", therefore analysis of the full-length genes is required. This paper contains information on primer sets and DNA-polymerases used to successfully amplify whole genomic regions for BRCA1 and BRCA2:
