I would use "transmission" if talking about contagion. The term "circulation" is frequently used in an epidemiological context; it refers to the prevalence of a virus in a given region, herd, etc.
Can I use "circulation" to indicate the meaning just like "currency circulation"? e.g. virus ciculation in a insect vector population which emphasize the meaning of cycle in the insect population ?
Gui-jun Wan: I agree with Leandro R. Jones, would you please specify which virus, which insect vector and which host are we discussing here? The contexts of geography and time frame are also helpful.
Our result speculate that the shortened development of herbivorous insect (the insect vector) could enhance the viral circulation in insect vector population, because the generation time is accerlerated. And another question, could we suggest an improved viral transmission based on this result, too?
Gui-jun Wan: I do not think enhancement viral transmission is the pathway to follow here, again, which insect species is the vector? has the virus in question been identified? and to which host is the insect vector transmitting the virus (or disease)?
i feel that the transmission refers to the way virus inoculum is transmitted to healthy plant by mechanical inoculation, vector (Thrips, Aphids, Whiteflies, Jassids) or nematodes etc., Where as circulation refers to the way the virus movement ( Mouth-gut- haemolymph - back to mouth )in the vector once the virus is ingested in to the body through the mouth parts before it is transmitted to the healthy plant by feeding .
