I think 5FU induced G1 arrest not apotosis.

I used HCT116 and HT-29 cells for 5FU teatment and I treated 40ug/ml for 48 h.

It strongly induced G1 arrest not apoptosis.

If you want to see cell death you may use more than 40ug/ml, I recommend HCT116 cell for your experiments.

If you want, let me know I can show you the morphology chages and cell cycle data for 5FU treated HCT116 and HT-29 cells.
