Please colleagues, I need to know how to convert the measure of enzyme activities in plants (Ascorbate peroxidase and Glutathione reductase) from the SI unit of U/L to umol/L. I found that most literature did not report in the SI unit, so I want to convert to make the results comparable to other studies. Kindly assist.
The SI unit of enzyme activity is the katal, which is the amount of enzyme required to make 1 mole of product per second. Since this is a very large amount, the nanokatal is a more convenient unit.
As for the U/L you mentioned, you should find out whether the U is the usual µmoles/min, or has some specialized meaning. Of course, you can convert µmol/min/L to µmol/L just by multiplying by the reaction time in minutes.
