What do you think the link between street art/graffiti and urban setting (architecture, the city)? and, how do you think this could impact of the city and the modern art movement?

Consider the city and the architecture along with the culture and art is a public gallery displaying the art movement, social qualities and culture.

I see the street art movement and culture is still at the beginning with some firepower behind it. As the city has become a confined area of urban growth we see 50% of the worlds population living in cities now. So the traditional medium for painting was traditional canvas material or the production of a piece was an indoor activity. Nowadays we find artists working in the streets set in dense areas where the display of work is applied to the urban fabric and civic places - this being the 'new' medium for artists.

This allows for a number of opportunities such as; people can be more creative, brightens up the city, a liveable city, increase in quality of publicly displayed art and minimises illegal art.
