In recent years an increasing use of phylogenetics as newer, potential alternative classification tool of living organisms has been noticed. In this context, a great part of scientists/academics still prefer to use Linnaean classification, while others have been criticizing Linnaean classification and hence prefer to use phylogenetic classification. Are you currently using (either for teaching at University or for research purposes) the Linnaean (rank-based) classification or the newer phylogenetic (evolutionary, based on cladistics) classification or a combination of both systems? Additionally, according to you, what are the advantages and disadvantages of each of these approaches of classification?
