What is the best way to indent alginate hydrogels? In air or in liquid? For in air measurements how do you dry the sample to make it usable for AFM?

I am working on alginate hydrogels and I want to measure the Young modulus with AFM. I want to know how is the best way to do it.

Hi Maria,

it strongly depends what you want to use the gels for. In general you should measure the Young's modulus in the same state, you want to do your experiment. In addition, drying these gels might impact their structure after re-hydration.
