I have seen mention of using centrifugation in which tubes are stacked, with the top-most tube having a screen at the bottom to bulk-collect hemolymph. (Such a procedure is described in the link at the end of the post.)
What is the advantage of this method over simply using some sort of "press"? The only advantage that I can think of is that this method would mitigate cell lysis, and thus collection of cytosol in addition to hemolymph. Is this the case, or would a "press" work sufficiently? Are there any other methods that are commonly employed, perhaps with vacuum pumps, etc.?
Thank you.
