The learning objectives should direct the trainers and the trainees and let the trainers be more committed towards these objectives. Writing the learning objectives for a training course leads to training effectiveness.
The best way of writing the learning objectives for a training course material is to be directed to the trainers "the leaders"in general terms leaving some space for them to modify in order to meet the alloted duration of the course. As for the trainees "the led", it is better to state the objectives in a simplified way which highlights the parts of the course as well as the advantages of the course .
An excellent discussion point! I think this should be an educational culture as it serves a dual role, both for the educator or trainer and for the student or trainee. Learning objectives should be critically defined to guide the trainer about how to proceed and to inform the trainee about what is expected to be learnt. Training should not go haphazardly but rather be oriented for the sake of achieving the goal of training.
Course accreditation is now becoming very important for the welfare of the stakeholders especially students. With respect to course accreditation, any training material or course material that is used for upgrading knowledge of the student should be based on the course outcome. Thus while defining objectives for a course material, the actual outcome of the course should be taken in mind which I feel is primary. All other factors like students background knowledge, availability of the resources etc are secondary.
It is important to be clear objectives for trainers in order to work to achieve it and the trainees learn how to take advantage of the program , this in my opinion will be effective
