As a chemist, I'll express my opinion concerning various faculties & including the faculty of business. The main contents of the scientific research policy:
1) Research by the staff is encouraged but not at the expense of the quality of teaching. 2) An engagement in research will lead to a reduction in the teaching load & in the office hours to give time for this activity. 3) The research ought to be authentic & innovative. 4) The faculty & the university will support research by providing the necessary tools & means. In some cases, publication in a scientific journal may be also supported. 5) All the staff will be treated fairly enabling each one to improve & to get promoted and each one will be rewarded justly in an open transparent method. 6) Any member of the staff tries to hinder a research effort of a colleague will be subjected to an investigation & may be punished.
Scientific research policy in the faculty of business should be focus on how university research can be effectively transformed into technological innovations, businesses, employment, and economic growth. The policy should support innovation and consider encouraging activity that is more likely to lead to scientific start-ups. Encouraging institutional scientists/heads to be more entrepreneurial with due consideration to ethical and societal aspects should be the key element of the policy.
