What is the best wall color of the lab to use with a IR cameras MoCap system (Qualisys, Vicon, Optitrack...)? We have always used white walls, without any problems. I read that blue color is the best option to use with the IR systems/spectrum. What is your opinion? Any color in particular? (please add pantone-color number)

In my previous life I worked with the first generation IR Qualisys (named MaxReflex at the time) for capturing movements of the jaw in the hope to detect whiplash damage or TMD (hypothetical “jawlash”) problems. We used the MoCap setup in all kinds of different environments and we did not observe any effects of ambient light or color (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9709606)
Now, 30 years later I am familiar with most MoCap concepts for computer-assisted maxillofacial surgery (fiducials close to the operating field and affixed to the surgeons instrument, respectively) and some of these systems are based on synchronized IR cameras (https://doi.org/10.11607/jomi.6351 )
Over 30 years the Hz has increased tremendously as well as possibility of simultaneous tracking of multiple fiducials. Yet, I have not heard or read anything about possible negative effects of the ambient light or color on synchronized IR cameras. However, new generation cameras with circuits that can operate with optical light (e.g. https://doi.org/10.1364/AO.56.001405) are prone to disturbance by alternating low light to bright light. These MoCap systems capture fiducials with geometric patterns instead of IR cameras/reflectors. It is not inconceivable that the cameras with these internal circuits are also influenced by ambient color surfaces.
