my pHD in Accounting,exactly im building new management theory which consists of some concepts,principles,and assumptions,and i want to test it's acceptance among some Practitioners via questionnaires by using "likert scale". i hope that my statistical outcomes being more accurate and effective,so:
1- what is the best statistical analysis program in this case?i did read some articles about "nvivo" that it can appropriate, however, there are great number of statistical analysis programs instead of "spss" such as smartpls and when read about it i found some articles recommended it for "theory building", also i read about other programs (stata,r,mitilab....etc).
2- can i measure "reability" here bu using "composite reability" instead of "cronbach alph"?
3- is better if i did do "experimental study" before doing field study?

Dear Nesrin, Your questions need some clarification before someone can address them. You need to be clear whether you are building/developing theory or testing it? or doing both in the same thesis? In case of theory building, most probably you will be using some qualitative/inductive (or abductive) approaches and you can use many softwares like NVIVO, Atlas.ti, Dedoose, MaxQDA etc but remember these software can only help you easing out the process of coding, categorizing and themes developing, diagraming etc. It will be you guiding the process like a steering helps driver control vehicle but ultimately its the driver who guides the drive.
In case you are testing theory, you will be probably using deductive approaches. Here you further need to see whether you are measuring and operationalizing a construct or testing some kind of relationship between/among the constructs? For measuring and developing a scale for construct, you will need to exlorator factor analysis. SPSS can be helpful in EFA but for confirmatory factor analysis you will need some kind of software program like AMOS etc.
I would suggest you focus on clarifying the objectives of your study instead of worrying about the particular softwares. Analysis in quantitative research is not that difficult provided you have clear objectives.
By using SmartPLS you can measure the reliability by ( composite reliability) instead of cronbach alpha, it is also powerful when conducting preliminary or pilot studies, you can check your model reliability and perform measurement model assessment using as small sample as 30...
