I forgot to mention, that spike2 and PClamp (Molecular devices) are both acquisition and analysis system and our lab uses pClamp10. I may be wrong but I don't think Clampfit-10 has any in-built analysis feature for gap-free acquisitions like the ones I talked about above. If anyone thinks it can do the analysis I am looking for then please let me know.

Detection and analyze of spontaneous and miniatures events is a recurring subject in labs. To my knowledge, there is no ideal program and it will be tedious: you always end up selecting events manually or almost, and have to combine multiple analysis software. Or program your own one. ClampFit have most of the features you require: you can detect events by threshold or template, the fitting functions are quite extensive and will give you rise and decay times, etc...

As said above, pclamp can run such analysis even on gap free, for detailed analysis of EPSPs, I think MiniAnalyis is more powerful but not sure it is still available or updated.

Hi Attila. Yes, I am using Clampex 10.6 for acquisition and clampfit for analysis. I had a conversation with a tech support from Molecular devices and he did forward me a webinar to analyze spontaneous AP firing and other features in pClamp. I am willing to learn what you have learnt from your experience. Please let me know.

Thanks Gabor! I believe the paper you posted is from a project that Atilla Szucs worked on or is still working on it. I am looking into it and I believe it has a good explanation on some analysis that I want to do.
