I do not understand the fiber mesh definition. What I assume is, you are trying to give the property of the glass /carbon fiber to the elements! What people usually do is thru rule of mixtures (20, 30,40% reinforcement of the fiber) + matrix, they construct a unit cell model and replicate this over the whole mesh. In that way the whole material behaves like a composite with the desired properties. Usually people make specimes of the desired material, get those properties in different directions such as 11, 22 etc.. and input thru material property definition! My colleague did that way. His name is rajaneesh anantha raju. Just search his name u may find some of his papers: Simplified failure analysis of circular composite sandwich plates under bending”, with A. Rajaneesh and S. Rajendran, International Journal of Mechanical Sciences 83 (2014) 184-195.
Karthic R. Narayanan said U "construct a unit cell model and replicate this over the whole mesh. In that way the whole material behaves like a composite with the desired properties."
However the FE structure works in linear manner to the strength limit (fiber/matrix/join between them)
So, U remember about buckling. In real, some fibers are buckled earlier before strength limit and all structure can comeback to own shape after unloading (if there was no damage under buckling) or can not.
What is composite matrix for metal mesh and problem for analysis? If it is prone to buckling then be care.
Remember that the whole structure (a sandwich) can buckle. For a such structure the better modeling approach is defiing stiffness "in different directions such as 11, 22 ".
I can`t help how buckling of composite sandwiches works in Simulia, but maybe anyone help U in them.
