What is your source of DNA? For animal tissues most people prefer the DNA extraction kits because they are quick, easy to use and the DNA integrity is high. If plant tissues is your DNA source, CTAB method may be preferable as challenges arising from polysaccharides and polyphenols are minimized.

It depends on the type of experiment you are conducting. Once you require same DNA for large number of reactions....requirement of DNA is large...better to go for CTAB. For smaller amount of sample and recovery extraction kits can be used.
It depends. I extract DNA from mycelia and fungi DNA from plants with small scale of samples with DNA kits. But for large scale of samples, it is better to use CTAB.

I recommend use the attached protocol. I used it in extraction of DNA from fungi, but the point is you must grow the fungi at high speed (about 200-250 rpm) to obtain mycelial pellets.
I try to extract DNA from yeast cell in a FFPE section too. But i don't have any sonicator in my place. Is there any other alternatives?
