Dear scholars who can provide me tips/papers regarding the selection of the best electrolyte and current collector combination for supercapacitor electrode?
Electrolyte (Ionic, organic, inorganic,…) + Current collector(Al foil, Ni foil, stainless steel…) + Binder(PVDF, PTFE…) + Solvent (NMP, H2O, alcohol)+ electrode??
There is not a simple answer to this question, although in priciple the selection of current collector and electrolyte is determined by both technical targets and cost for commercial purposes. It is also influenced by the environmental impact and sustainability of the combination. This principle applies to the selection and combination of other materials mentioned in the question.
For technical targets, it is generially that an organic active material would require an organic electrolyte, whilst aqueous electrolyt is more widely used to support inorganic active material. Of course, there are materials that can work in both types of electrolytes, such as polypyrrole.
Read any of the numerous review articles on supercapacitor materials; they're out there and they're a lot.
I think, Gold coated materials and TI. KOH is suitable electrolyte.

All components are complement to each other.
Moreover each combination of Electrolyte + Current collector + Binder + Solvent + electrode has a significance.
If you want to improve cycling stability, you choose a certain combination. Whereas when you want only high specific capacitance and not worried about cycling stability, then choose another combination.
For Electrode:
Activated carbon is best EDLC.
The best classic pseudocapacitive material is RuO2.
For instance, their performance varies with the other components you choose as combination (i.e) Electrolyte, Current collector, Binder & Solvent.
