I have boron nitride powder of size less than 100nm. I want to disperse it in solvent in which it can be stable for a long time(in DCM, acetone and ethanol, it gets precipitate after 30min of dispersion). Tell me the appropriate solvent for this?
if you want to have a fully stable colloid you have to use high molecular weight polymers for stabilizing the particles. you have to adjust teh zeta potential of your suspension in order to avoid rapid sedimentation or agglomeration. you can may be use (triethanolamine) TEA or chitosan for this purporse. But these are not solvents and you are not preparing a solution I think.

I have also synthesised hBN with a lateral size of ~200 nm and thickness of few atomic layers. The dispersion was found to be better for solvents like NMP and DMF, whereas similar to your case, in dispersion in DI water, the precipitation occurs.
I would suggest to go for either NMP or DMF. It will show better dispersion stability.
