When I am doing a simulation of a unit cell of metamaterial in CST, I am getting a warning "mesh adaption termination because of maximum passes is reached". What is it and how much it affects the simulation and to avoid it. I reduced the frequency range from 4 GHz to 1GHz but still, I am getting the same warning. Below I have attached the image of the warning.
The adaptive meshing reduces the mesh size until the change between results for the last two mesh sizes is as small as the limit CST or you set. If the difference doesn't get small enough, it will stop at a number of passes, set by CST or you, because it is taking too long or not likely to get better. The idea is that a finer mesh give a more accurate result, but too fine a mesh takes for ever - and might give an error because of accumulating rounding errors if it carries on too long.
Look at things like the S11 and see if the changes between passes are small enough so that the results are good enough for your purposes, even though the adaptive meshing hasn't reached its aim.
Or change the rule for stopping adaptive meshing, or the number of passes before it stops, if you can. Look in the help.
