I know the transmission co-efficient of a Metamaterial absorber is zero as there is a complete ground plane at the backside of a substrate. But to retrieve the permittivity and permeability value I need both transmission and reflection coefficient. So my question is how to measure the transmission coefficient of a Metamaterial absorber in CST software?

Below I have attached the list of S-parameters that is in CST. I want to know out of these 8 options, which one measures cross-polarization and which one measures transmission co-efficient?"

If you follow the abovementioned article, in Fig.2(b) you will find that they have shown the reflection coefficient as S11 parameter and the transmission coefficient as S21 parameter. They used two distinct waveguide ports simultaneously to excite the metamaterial within a specified frequency range to obtain those curves. I would suggest you recheck your port specifications and try again. I once replicated their approach for a single substrate material (only) by applying two ports as shown in Fig. 2(a) and I got four S parameter outputs namely S11, S21, S12 S,22.

sir, have you designed in CST or in HFSS ? In CST software 8combinations are coming for unit cell design of a metamaterial absorber.
