Now, I vaguely know that if an infertile male mouse mates with a female she becomes pseudopregnant but what are the characteristic features of a pseudeopregnant female? how do you identify pseudopregnancy and what is the ideal time for a fertilised egg to be inserted in this female?

There are no special characteristics. You can recognize them by the presence of vaginal plug (although its frequency is male-dependent) and, at best, pre-select females in dioestrus by vaginal cytology. Oestrus is induced by the introduction in the female cage of bedding from a male cage 3 days prior to mating.
Usually, day 5 embryos are implanted in females on day 4 after plug detection.
