this procedure is quite drastic. This treatment will extract many types of molecules, hydrolyse a part of proteins and nucleic acids, other proteins will denaturate.

The concentration of TCA will be an important factor. For protein precipitation, the TCA concentration needed is several percent by weight.
10-20%, to be exact, if you wish to precipitate proteins
