In my opinion, the scientific contributions of scientists should not be removed from the RG at all, as often researchers track the chronology of discussions in accordance with the answers of scientists. If RG will remove the contributions of scientists, then the connection between events will be broken and then the sequence of these events will become incomprehensible. Discussions on RG are our history of exchanging opinions on RG, but history can not be corrected or rewritten as is known, history should be inviolable.

What does RG say why the Ian's name is removed from his very valuable answers ? (the answers and comments themselves still remain yet distributed over the whole question section of RG.)

But all his answers and questions have been deleted from his home page.

To my opinion his name should remain at the top of the answers to pay homage to him.

He was a very polite, patient, collaborative and profound RG colleague; rest in peace Ian and thanks for your valuable comments.

I think decision of removal of Questions or Answers are taken by Research Gate authority.

How the family member can remove these?

It may be the case that they have requested RG authority to do so.

I am not sure but I suppose it will continue to grow as more authors access and cite the work of thedeparted

It is very unfortunate for all RG members. Any post/comment /discussion in this platform is not simply for benefit of individual learner or expert but always for the whole scientific community irrespective of past, present or future.

I wonder how RG realizes that somebody stops commenting because he/she died? On the FB there are sites which cannot be remopved even when asked to do so.

I really shocked to know this fact. Is it the way to pay homage to our departed colleague (Ian Slipper)? Really, it is hapless for all of us. How it happens?

I feel the contributions of a departed member have some values for science, scientific community and RG. Many of us may be benefited from the same. So, the information should be kept with due respect.

The minimum honour should be given to a researcher for his/her honest contributions. The researcher may leave this world but contributions alive eternally.

A deleted profile could be done by who has the password or by RG. I know a researcher died before more than a year and his profile is still in RG.

What I notice is that the RG team responded when I brought to their attention the death of my co-author, Amar Mukherjee, who was professor emeritus of the University of Central Florida (Orlando). What they did was to remove the contact mechanism (you can't follow a dead person), marked the profile as being "In Memory Of" and the papers on the profile are still available for perusal. I am not familiar with Amar's questions and answers, and it does seem now that no such contributions were made. So, generally, my observation is that contributions remain, even when corporeally we do not. See here:

I feel that the RG aim is to transfer knowledge whether the source of knowledge from lived or died scientists. I feel shame, instead to honour scientists after death, remove their names from RG. Please RG team reconsider your doing. Scientists are living on their experience and transfer it to people. If the author has a book, then died is that give us the chance to remove his book. If the law permit the RG team remove account of scientists after death please rethink about the invaluable participation to young scientists. I urge RG team not to remove my name after my death, I participate in RG for the sake of mercy from god because I left good science to people after my death, please reconsider that to other scientists as well.

What happens to RG contributions of a member upon his or her demise?

I think there must be some time period after which RG remove the user that are not active on RG. This might be the reason. But its not fair, non of the profile should be deleted or post removed from RG......they have their values..

According to my opinian RG authority will never delete the past activity of member on wall of RG, if it is removed by the authority it should not be becouse RG is not like other social media such as FB, Twitter etc.. The scientific contribution eternal.

I am angry to RG of not properly dealing with this issue. People get old, age and die, but RG should have more transparent policy regarding dead of RG members and what should be done with answers and contribution provided. Also it would be nice if biography of contributors could be updated even after dead. something like wikipedia
