It is called a silver fish and is quite harmless. Usually found behind wall hangings and feeeds on glue and paper. The most common species is Lepisma saccharina and belongs to the order Thysanura. It is a primitive wingless insect and has no metamorphosis. When it hatches from the egg it is a miniature adult and undergoes several moults as it grows.

yes it is silverfish. normally it seems in shelves with books which are not used for a long time. Also seen in fabrics where starch is available. Not dangerous. Keep the area clean.

It refers long, fringed filaments on the abdomen and this is a one of the good feature for identification. Few species are adapted to the domestic environment and may cause extensive damage to household goods like wallpaper pasts, bookbinding, textiles & cardboard and other paper products

You can use NH3 to clean your room and put a bay leaf in your books. If you want to catch them you can use sugar or potato like bait. Natural predator is European earwig (Forficula auricularia).
