What are the functional criteria of the cardiovascular, respiratory and autonomic nervous systems predict the severity of the disease, the presence of complications and mortality?
For obesity and most chronic diseases " A pound of prevention is better than tons of treatment"
Awareness and self-knowledge and care regarding obesity in the modern times is the key to avoid its complications (Hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, osteoarthritis, gastrointestinal reflux, constipation, obstructive sleep apnea, and all complications related to it.
Affluence, easy availability of food, and modern electronic equipments (Television, computers, internet, smart phones) have made the work smart, but the people obese.
Over centuries people have been digging their graves through their teeth. However, the speed of doing so has increased in modern age of "Couch potatoes".
For functional assessment of cardiovascular system , New York Heart Association (NYHA) classification is applied which uses angina , dyspepsia, palpitation as variables (NYHA CLASS 1 - 4 )
For functional assessment of respiratory system , modified medical research council (MMRC) is applied which has grading as MMRC stage 0 -4
For functional assessment of autonomic nervous system , parameters used are - hear rate variability testing, valsalva maneuver , deep breathing test , head tilt test , hand grip test .
Dear Reena, thank you for your answer. Please tell me if you know the indicators you have listed, which probably predict the course of СOVID-19. Sincerely. A. Romanchuk.
Indicators which can predict the course of COVID-19 is modified medical research council (MMRC). There are grading system 0, 1, 2, 3, 4. Different parameters of these grading system indicates severity of respiratory distress which is major cause of mortality in COVID-19. Reena.
I think this scale is useful when a well-developed clinical syndrome develops. First of all, I mean indicators which would allow to predict development of the same distress syndrome without the expressed clinical signs.
For example, by the parameters of respiratory variability, synchronization of the cardiorespiratory system, simple respiratory tests, etc.
